Pot Size: 1 litre (deep) Price: £12.00 Description: A selection of this species with a smaller stature than the normal forms, arising from strong creeping densely scaly rhizomes, forming dense colonies of lanceolate glossy deep green occasionally spotted foliage at around 30 cm long. Bearing purple flowers directly from its thick rhizomes, usually just protruding above the surface of the soil/compost. With campanulate flowers bearing 8 long slender lobes and a peculiar white stigma in the shape of a blown out umbrella. Usually opening from August to October for us. Our collection from Wushe in the Central Mountains of Taiwan in 1996. Easily grown in a container or in a sheltered spot in the garden, in full shade where the soil cannot be waterlogged.
