Where they formed plants with a basal clump of divided arching leaves with an erect rarely branched flowering stem to 1.5m tall. Bearing a mass of small white staminate flowers in a long terminal spike, later than most specie September to November. Easily grown in any type of drained fertile soil with some moisture retention in sun or part shade. Syn. Cimicifuga
