On our joint expedition with The Taiwan National Museum of Natural Science in 2015. A distinctly dainty slow-growing tree usually to 5m tall in gardens, but of much larger proportions in the wild. Bearing wonderfully colourful glossy narrowly five-lobed leaves turning crimson-bronze in the autumn, on dark slender stems. Best grown in a moist well drained soil in part shade to full sun, sheltered from strong cold winds. Also known as A. serrulatum.
