In the north of the Central Mountains in an area known as Wuling Farm, where the tree we collected from was protected. Allowing it to flourish to approximately 30 m tall with wide branches, many of which had been broken by the earlier typhoon. All the same there was plenty of seed for us to collect from the resulting seed capsules from the large branched pyramidal inflorescences of lilac trumpet-flowers heavily spotted purple held in 3-5s. For a fertile soil in sun or part shade, suitable for pollarding for foliage effect.
