Phytolacca rugosa - BSWJ16429

Pot Size: 3 litre
Price: £18.00
Description:
Although considered poisonous some species are eaten, not something we would recommend. One of our collections from the slopes of Volcán del Ruiz, Colombia at 3750m in 2024, where we found this perennial species forming a small colony at the edge of the alpine forest. With lax stems to 1 m tall bearing narrow ovate purple tinted leaves to 10cm long while young, with upright terminal shortish spikes of pink flowers, soon followed with pink-purple fruit. Forming a mound of lax stems spreading to 1.5m. Sometimes cultivated as it has many valued properties, used as an ink or dye. Full sun or light shade in any type of drained fertile soil.
