Description:
A little stowaway that we collected as a tiny seedling in the middle of another small creeping perennial, from our 2024 collecting expedition with Dan Hinkley to northern Taiwan. Which turned out to be quite rare, with its name still not fully determined. All the same it is conspicuous enough for us to admire the numerous tidy well adorned upright spikes, described to 20cm (only half that for us) tall of clustered violet 1cm long flowers, for what seemed ages in mid-summer into autumn for us. With unusually divided mat-forming basal foliage, setting off the show. Best grown in a moisture retentive soil, in part shade, could well be reasonably hardy, but not tested yet. The normal variety does not possess this intricate foliage.
