(Convallariaceae)

Polygonatum vietnamicum - BSWJ8366

Pot Size: 1 litre
Price: £30.00
Description:
Probably the most flamboyant of all the species we grow, that we found in north-eastern Lao, in the typical habitat of this species, in 2000 on a field trip with the University of Vientiane. Growing on limestone outcrops in a deep pocket of leaf-mould, that gave it the severe drainage that it requires, along with the constantly moist compost. Restricted in these small pockets they only formed small plants with few whirls of bright pink and contrasting green tipped axillary flowers, on flexuous climbing stems that are held in place by the terminal tendrils on the tips of the long narrow leaves. Taking many years to form a sizeable plant that can climb annually to 5m long.
