Description:
An evergreen shrubs 1-3 m tall with dark purplish to greyish brown cylindrical branchlets, initially densely yellow tomentose but becoming glabrous with age. Leaves are obovate to orbicular, 2-4.5 × 1.2-2.8 cm, thickly leathery, glossy above tomentose below, converting to greyish in hot or dry conditions. The white flowers with broadly ovate petals 2.5-3.5 mm long are held in dense compound corymbs 3-6 × 4-7 cm, May-June followed by red obovoid fruit 4-6 mm wide September-October. Best grown in a well drained soil in sun. Originating from a joint collection with Dan Hinkley from the Trum-Tron Pass in northern Vietnam at 2,000m in 2003.
