With strikingly bright purple mottled arching stems, which are even brighter when the red fruit are still attached, as they often can be for months on this collection we gathered seed of on our ascent to the summit of Fan Si Pu, Vietnam's 2nd highest mountain. The fruit are the result of the bright green small flowers held in clusters in all the leaf axils, even unusually for this form, the terminal axil. Best grown in a shaded position in a moist but well drained spot.
