Description:
Arising from 2cm thick rhizomes to arching hirsute (hairy) stems normally 30-35cm tall, but capable of 1.2m in ‘Robustum’ grown in good conditions. A distinct eastern European species which we have grown into a wide colony over many years in our gardens. Bearing alternate widely-ovate ribbed leaves on very short clasping petioles that are glossy above of a bright green colour, to approximately 15 x 10cm. With axillary racemes of up to 4 pendant tubular white green-tipped flowers late April-May. Easily grown in part to full shade in most types of fertile drained soils. Syn. P. hirtum
